Abstract:
This Maple worksheet checks the mathematics in the potentially controversial paper "Mathematical Models and the design of public health policy: HIV and Antiviral therapy", by Sunetra Gupta, Roy M. Anderson, and Robert M. May, SIAM Review, Vol 35, No. 3, pp. 1-16, March 1993. It also shows how to go beyond some of the results in that paper; in particular, an exact solution is found in a more general case than that of the paper.
