Labahn Workshop Lecture 1: Symbolic computation versus numeric computation

In this introductory lecture examples are used to motivate the series and the interaction between symbolic and numeric computation. For example why not consider a symbolic/numerical or numerical/symbolic perspective. We focus on the fact that these are not two separated worlds, and introduce the numerical models used in the lecture series.
